I just searched themeforest and codecanyon for directory and listing themes/plugins and found a new possible alternative to directorist. It just got released in Feb 2023. check it out on codecanyon.
It looks more modern than most of those old looking and slow loading best selling directory themes.
The main feature i need is geolocation distance/radius search on left sidebar to filter listing results as a list and map view. Thats what directorist has or is improving but this new plugin seems like its competing with directorist which is good for us

hey greenative, no i was just letting others know about it. ive decided to try to make a directory listing site using elementor or similar wp page builders and try to find plugins to do the radius search filter.
i cant believe people buy and use those really out of date looking listing directory themes, theyre so slow complicated too. you are better off starting from scratch yourself than spending weeks reading the docs and modifying.
How a theme looks can be changed via CSS customization, but functionality requires someone with good coding skills. Two very different skills. Is it how they 'look' or function, because how they function are very complicated.
ok i just checked the bestselling listing themes on themeforest and it seems they have improved some of their demo sites since i checked a year ago so i will try one of them now.
this is a one week link and no BS about updates,
